I am the founder and CEO of Life’s Natural Solutions, an educational consultancy focusing on change.

Concerned with the big picture of what humanity is doing to the planet and planetary cycles, I have committed myself to focusing on this with my latest project, transitioning to a Life Sustaining Economy to create a new initiative to achieve full sustainability with a new vision, mission and purpose.

It is not enough to make incremental changes to the status quo as sustainability currently exists. We must transition to a closed loop circular economy that does no harm to restore and balance the planetary cycles on which all life and the economy depends.

This goes beyond current circular and bio-based economies to create a new alternative pathway with realistic solutions and practices.

MY BACKGROUND

Recent

The last two and half years have been spent deeply researching both circular and bio-based economies and current sustainability initiatives to find out what the issues are, what is missing and what doesn’t go far enough. This included a deep dive into bio-based products and packaging looking at materials, chemicals, how they were manufactured and what their end of life options were as waste to create an alternative that does no harm for human and environmental health.

Based on this research, real life solutions and practices have been found that will establish a framework for what needs to happen to transition to a Life Sustaining Economy thereby creating a new pathway with a new vision, mission and purpose for sustainability.

Previous

Expert on the Biology of Cognition, the work of Chilean Biologist and Systems Thinker, the late Prof. Humberto Maturana who received many international awards for his ground breaking work, the theories of living systems, perception and the biology of cognition.  This expertise led me to become an expert in systems thinking and a circular/systemic view of life.

Led a global campaign to transition to a circular economy,

I am part of the Great Transition Initiative (GTI), an international network of scholars and activists that analyzes alternative scenarios and charts a path to a hopeful future.

I was also a former member of the Advisory Board of the Barcelona Consensus, a project dedicated to transitioning to a sustainable society.

I am also the author of three books - Living Systems:  An Introductory Guide to the Theories of Humberto Maturana & Francisco Varela, The Circularity of Life:  An Essential Shift for Sustainability and WTF!?...How am I thinking?: A Thinking Tool For Change, my latest book.
